Today’s post is about one of my personal favorite activities: reading! I put together a list of some of my favorite books from the last few years; it’s hard for me to narrow it down so if you need more recommendations I have them. :) I aim to read two books each month. I have not jumped on the Kindle train yet because I still enjoy “real” books. I do have the Kindle app and Audible as it’s sometimes more convenient but I prefer the local library, Amazon, Thriftbooks, Target, etc for all of my book reading needs. I will buy a book if I know it will be one I’ll want to underline, highlight and write in the margins. I used to try so hard to keep my books in pristine condition but now I use them like study material and won’t go back. I love to learn from books and try to make an effort to implement an idea or concept from the book instead of breezing through it and not actually taking anything away from what I just read. I have even read a few of my favorites more than once. My books to me are like shoes or purses might be to others! It's hard for me to get rid of any. Since we’re on the topic, here are a few benefits of reading books according to Healthline: provides free entertainment, strengthens your brain, builds your vocabulary and enhances knowledge, helps prevent age-related cognitive decline, reduces stress and aids in sleep! Do you want to incorporate reading into your daily routine? Build this healthy habit and set a reading goal. Each month I list reading as a daily habit to check off in my Powersheets. I made it part of my evening routine of winding down and I read at least one chapter of a book before bed (shoutout to my parents who have been doing this my entire life and it was easy to follow their example!)
Here’s my book list in no specific order. Also, please share your book recommendations below!
