Do you ever catch yourself thinking, “I can’t do this” or “I’m such a failure”. It’s easy to get caught in a negative thought cycle, but it’s time to flip the script because your life and your health depend on it. Mindset is so important for our mental health (depression and anxiety, poor social connections), physical health (immune system, heart, chronic pain and illness) and longevity. A fixed mindset is a belief that things are the way they are and cannot be changed. This thinking limits your ability to grow, keeping you thinking and acting “small”. A growth mindset is a belief that you can improve with effort, you can learn what you need in order to succeed. Cultivating a positive or growth mindset doesn’t mean ignoring your challenges. It means finding the good and choosing to focus on what you can control despite your challenges. We cannot always control what happens to or around us; we cannot control the past, but we can control how we respond to it, our attitude and actions moving forward. With the right mindset, even failures become stepping stones.
So, let’s embrace the journey, create space for growth and let go of limits. Go into the next season not only hopeful that it’s possible, but confident that this will be your time. This will be the time it sticks; this time you will be consistent and finally see the results you have been wanting.
Here are a few examples of shifting your mindset from negative to positive -
I have to → I get to
I can’t do it → I will figure it out
I am a failure → This is an opportunity to grow
I stick to what I know → I like to try new things
